does black polish on thumb mean you are a cult member?

HI Ladies!

Can you believe I am actually doing this?! No it is not a start to a New Years resolution- those never work for me. I just got to thinking of how we have been able to gather a few times before the end of the year and how much I value each and every 7 friend. I got a little giggle thinking of the comment the other night about our black polish on the thumb and if it meant we are a cult. Tee Hee! I wonder what trademarks other groups of friends have.

Am I becoming my father?

I would imagine that your mom has similar thoughts when she is dusting :)
Your artwork is great. It is not only a pleasure for you to look at, but everyone who comes to your house as well. I remember more than one conversation that resulted from it. If you run out of room on the walls, you can get some bins to keep the extra in and rotate them occasionally (see below regarding bins).
I keep stuff....like every card or letter I have ever received, including Christmas cards. I storage bins full of them! Every time I see the bins or put something in one, I convince myself that someday when I am old and relatively immobile, I'll be entertained looking through them. I guess I am planning for retirement.
On another note, I think I may be becoming my father. He talks to himself. The older he gets, the more often and more audibly he does it. It's not like a conversation. It's more like he is just saying what he is thinking. I seem to find myself doing the same thing (only when there is no one else around). Not to the extent that he does, but by the time I am his age, who knows?! I could be some freak walking through the grocery store talking to themselves.
I guess we all have this subconscious, or possibly very conscious fear of becoming our parents.

Am I becoming my mother?

I usually dislike collections of things - especially things like figurines...blech...they dont really mean anything to me and collect dust. My mom does that - flowers and birds, she has EVERYTHING related to the artist...I keep wondering what happens to it when she passes. Morbid thought, but you gotta think about these things sometime. Anyway - I realized the other day that I have a problem...I collect things too. Art. I have soooo much art hanging on all walls of my house. It isnt just a piece here and there - it is everywhere. I am still compelled to purchase more too...I mean it isnt like I go to the local KMart...it is stuff we have bought while traveling or going to art fairs. I just feel a little overwhelmed with it though, I cant tell if it is a ridiculous amount, or just a little too much or just enough. My judgement is skewed....I wonder if my mother feels the same when she looks at her flower figures...hmmm..

October 2008 GNO

We celebrated Wednesday and Lil's birthday - it was combined this year...though that leaves us with no real reason to get together in November. (What were we thinking!) I am sure we can come up with something to do. The gift theme this year was giving to charity. Wednesday wanted to give to ACS, Lil to Operation Kindness...giving to charity doesnt give us an opportunity to shop or open presents, so we all thought outside of the box on this one...Fortunately the day of the GNO was a Race for the Cure (see another blog), so we all decided to walk with Wednesday (the gimp - another blog article, if she ever gets around to writing it). Operation Kindness has a wishlist, so we all purchased dog stuff (no one thought of the cats) for Lil to open.
We decided to party at the Ritz - start at the Live Oak Bar and move onto Fearings for dinner. Wow was that a good/bad idea - depending who you talk to. It involves a delicious drink call the French Fizz...ahhh good times, good times. We all had a couple, except Francesca and Lil and WOW was that a strong drink. We were all tipsy when dinner started, and they placed us outdoors, next to the kitchen. Very appropriate spot given our gift of gab. Waiter - Martin (pronounced Marrrrrteeeen), who developed a crush on Francesca (he called her Lucy) - was really great and seemed to enjoy us. Dinner - dont really remember, which was attributed to the F.Fs....I think we all had different things and tasted each others dishes, I also think we raved over everything. Martin put up with us, and before we knew it - we had been there 4 hours and were the last diners. Whoops! We went out back to the bar (too many people) and had a pit stop in the lobby. The people watching there is fab., took me back to the 80's with all the off the shoulder tops, short - tight minis and leg warmers. Anywhooo - it was another great night, over way too quick!

Race for the Cure 2008

We are a unimaginative group. We all (minus the ladies who slept in - Lil and Francesca) showed up for both 1k and 5k walks Saturday morning in our RFTC T-shirts and saw so many people wearing special things to celebrate Survivors...some had even tie dyed their Tshirts. We have got to do better next year! We noticed a small difference in CJ and Wednesday's outfits though - they had pink paper numbers. The rest of us had white. Pink is for survivors. They are not survivors. Ooops. CJ didnt fully read the website. Threw Catalina for a loop when she received Wednesday's package....The 1k race was fun - it was over way too fast. Catalina and Wednesday decided to sit out the 5k race, there were too many tantalizing samples to partake of in the parking lot. Nicole, CJ and I walked and walked and walked...very nice neighborhoods - lots of $$ - lots of democrats. Hmm... Well - we finished the race in 1 hour - I think we could have gone faster if there were fewer people (thats the story I am sticking to anyway) and I really felt good about myself. We all decided that this will be an annual event - but we have to think ahead...pink fairies, angels, witches - something!

Nicole's men

Nicole has dated many nice men, some just happened to have names that we have taken a bit of license to change (to make them more compelling). They are all fairly close to the original name, and it is amazing the theme running throughout.

Here goes:

Long Poke

Peter Wood

Xavier Assbare

Max Traction

Jay Steel

Bill Poke

Meryl Hands

Paul Wet

John Crotch

David Fukk

See what I mean?!? Yes - I am jealous.

Stating the obvious

We had a great time on our first out-of-town adventure!

I think my favorite thing about our outings is how much we laugh :) Laughter is truly good for you, both physically and mentally. There are studies to prove it. How awesome is that? Have a great time and it's GOOD for you!
